How Times Have Changed

We’ve come a long way over the years. Generations have changed, technology has advanced, and now AI is transforming the way we live and work. But along with all these improvements, something important has shifted; how we spend our time, especially when it comes to playing and interacting with others.

Our generation may very well be the last one to truly experience the simple joys of the “old days.” Back then, we spent hours playing outdoor games like cricket in open fields, running around, laughing, and creating memories with friends. These were moments that connected us with the people around us and with nature. Today, many of the games we loved have changed. For example, instead of playing cricket on a large field, kids today often play box cricket in small, congested spaces. While it’s still fun, it’s not the same as enjoying the fresh air and the freedom of an open ground.

Another big change is how we interact with others. Back in the day, games were a way to meet and bond with friends in person. Whether it was cricket, hide-and-seek, or a simple game of tag, these activities brought us closer to the people around us. Today, many kids play online video games instead. While these games can be exciting and even social in their own way, they often lead to less face-to-face interaction. The fun of laughing together, celebrating a win, or even arguing over rules just isn’t the same when it happens through a screen.

There’s nothing wrong with technology; it’s made life easier and brought us amazing possibilities. But as we move forward, it’s important to remember the value of real-world connections and outdoor play. Let’s encourage the next generation to enjoy the best of both worlds: the excitement of digital games and the joy of playing outside with friends. After all, it’s these moments, both old and new: that truly shape our memories and relationships.
